As a small local charity we rely on the support and generosity of local businesses, individuals, grant making trusts and groups to help us achieve our mission of improving life after brain injury.
Over the last two years we have made significant changes to the way we work. We run a lean organisation (we’ve reduced our overheads by 17% whilst increasing outputs by 60%), only ask for what we need and love the support of those who can help us. Whilst we made these improvements to our efficiency we also undertook a big piece of work to create a new quality standard to work towards, that was person centred and specific to people affected by brain injury. We worked with clients, family members and carers, the Derby NHS Head Injury Team and staff and volunteers of the charity to create ‘Rediscovering My Brain’ development model. In the first wave of this new model 100% of participants saw an increase across 80% their chosen themes, such as confidence, self-esteem, resilience and relationships.
Despite making the decision to suspend all face to face services on 17th March, we have continued to support as many brain injury survivors and their families as we can… at the same time we stopped charging for most of these services to promote equality of access for everyone.
The response we received from donors, funders, volunteers and local press has fantastic. and we are truly grateful – THANK YOU!
Our wall of fame honours all those who have supported us in recent years.
