Role Description: Volunteer Brain Injury Mentor

Responsible to: Coordinators; Chief Executive

Location: Headway Derby Brain Injury Hub, the Allotment Garden, Digital Services

Our members are brain injury survivors who access our services of support as they are members of the brain injury community, specifically Headway Derby.

Role Purpose: As a brain injury mentor, you will enable brain injury survivors to participate to the full extent of their abilities across the scope of our bespoke 1:1 and programmed activities, and to be socially engaged within the services we offer. At Headway Derby we provide opportunities for survivors of brain injury, their carers, and families (including children) to access peer-support, re-learn lost skills and cultivate new ones; to regain confidence and self-esteem; to reduce isolation; to increase independent living and to build new social networks. You will be working 1:1 with individuals and their families.

  • Code of Conduct Training

This is a mandatory requirement for all colleagues and successful applicants will be supported to complete this annually. Training is delivered in accessible and supported ways and developed in partnership with other volunteers, members and staff alike; as well as with key statutory agencies such Derby City Council Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding Board, Derby and Derbyshire CCG and so on.
