In the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is the leading cause of death and disability.
We are a specialist brain injury organisation who offer unique development and support services to families and individuals across the City of Derby, South Derbyshire, and East Staffordshire; improving life after brain injury to enable anyone affected to lead more fulfilled, connected and independent lives.
Although being entirely independent, we welcome and encourage collaborative partnerships and work closely with the Derby and Burton NHS Trusts Head Injury Team, Neuro Outpatients Team, Kings Lodge and Vulnerable Adult Social Care Teams to engage with people affected by brain injury as quickly as is suitable for them.
We offer a portfolio of services intentionally designed to support the ‘whole-self’, and this includes services for family and loved ones. As part of this we have worked with Dr. Charlotte Whiffen from the University of Derby to seed and evolve a special interest group to explore and develop services and connections for families affected by brain injury. On 9th September 2021 the special interest group, now called Anchorpoint will be formally launched at the Headfirst Conference.
