We continue to consider all of our clients access preferences in this response, and are working with the Derby City Covid 19 Response Team to ensure that all our clients and their loved ones have the support they need. As soon as we are get the go ahead to resume face to face services we’ll let you know.

Brain Injury Hub

Everything that we do flows out from the Brain Injury Hub on Bateman Street, just a stones throw from the base of the clinical specialist NHS Head Injury Team and Kings Lodge rehabilitation unit . Our non-clinical developmental, therapeutic and rehabilitative work is very different but highly aligned with their work and forms a key aspect of your recovery pathway.

You are welcome to come and visit us by appointment, see what we do and meet the team; just call 01332 365270 to arrange. We have PPE, Infection Control measures and Track and Trace in place and encourage everyone to wear face coverings when visiting us.

In the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is the leading cause of death and disability. Headway Derby is an award winning registered charity (number 1107803) and company limited by guarantee (number 04658919) established by a group of volunteers in 1994, in response to the need to provide support for loved ones of people who’d survived a brain injury.

27 years on, own mission remains the same, to IMPROVE LIFE AFTER BRAIN INJURY!

The charity receives no statutory funding and is delighted by the support it gets from companies, donors, collection boxes and fundraising events. Combined with income from Member Days and grants from charitable trusts like Awards for All, Garfield Weston Foundation, Foundation Derbyshire and Henry Smith Charity, we were able to increase our service delivery by 60% in the last year whilst reducing our overheads by 14%.

In 2019 we were incredibly privileged to win Derby Telegraph Business Awards – Not for Profit Award, sponsored by Sellick Partnership – recruitment specialists. In 2020 we were nominated for this award again, however, due to the global pandemic the awards were postponed. In 2021 we have been nominated once more and we couldn’t be more excited as these nominations and awards are for our members and their families; for their bravery, tenacity and determination.

The charity offers a portfolio of services intentionally designed to support the ‘whole-self’, and this includes services for family and loved ones too.

THANK YOU for helping us to achieve this.
